Organizing Actions
Do Exercise:
1) Look at the work you personally do. How much of it is tasks you are checking off on a task list, versus actions that are clearly connected to outcomes. Think of this separate from the tools you use to track your progress.
2) What about your team? Based on your observation, how much of the work they do each day is clearly connected to the outcomes the team is looking to drive? If you don’t know the answer to this question, note that down too.
3) Write down three ways in which you could ensure that the team as a whole is focused on actions that are connected to outcomes. This could include cultural shifts, tooling changes, and team skills development.
