WE 5.0: WE Own Our Mistakes
Reflect & Respond
1. Recall a time when a team member made a significant mistake. Capture the scenario and the consequences of the mistake.
2. Was the mistake shared immediately or did it surface later?
3. Did the team member step up to take absolute ownership or did there seem to be some ambiguity related to the root cause?`
4. Recall your reaction to learning about the mistake. Did you respond in a way that messaged mistakes are fuel for growth or did you quickly move to discipline mode? Would you react similarly today?
WE 4.4: Creating Systems for Rewarding Action
Reflect & Respond
1. Recall the last few times you praised or recognized someone on your team. What were you really rewarding — playing it safe, just an outcome, or taking bold ownership?
2. In your team, or more broadly, your organization, what behavior typically gets the spotlight? What message does it quietly send to you and your team?
3. Pinpoint a behavior or even a team ritual that empowers a mindset of absolute ownership. Paint a clear picture of what it looks like in action.
4. Create one simple, visible way to start recognizing this behavior or ritual immediately. How will you make sure the whole team sees it when someone steps up?
WE 4.3: Inspiring Initiative

1. Is there a process or action for which your team almost always waits for your approval before moving? Why do you think they’re hesitating — lack of clarity, fear of mistakes or failure?
2. Look in the Mirror of Truth: Could you be unintentionally discouraging taking action? How might your words, tone, or past reactions be signaling, “Check with me” instead of “Go for it?”
3. Now choose one clear way to demonstrate you trust their judgment and taking action is okay. What will you say or do? And how will you resist the temptation to step in and take control?
WE 4.2: Overcoming Analysis Paralysis

1. Have you or members of your team ever been stuck in “analysis paralysis” and missed the window for action? What did it cost you — in time, employee or customer experience?
2. When you hear the phrase “good enough,” what’s your gut reaction — relief or discomfort? Does your reaction influence the quality of your team’s decisions?
3. Identify an idea for improvement that you just haven't leaned into. If you were to drop everything and pursue it, what information is truly essential before you act — and what’s just noise?
4. Identify a new “rule” to help instill an action-oriented mindset. Whether it’s a “two-day decision window,” a bias-to-action reminder, or a process for breaking big choices into smaller, faster components.
WE 4.1: Innovation Without Fear

1. Try to recall a time someone on your team brought you an idea that was unexpected, messy, or risky. Replay your exact reaction — your words, your tone, your facial expression. If a camera caught that moment, would it show someone who fuels ideas or shuts them down?
2. Identify one subtle habit or pattern in your leadership that might be making innovation feel unsafe — maybe it’s asking for too much proof, poking holes too early, or rewarding only “safe” wins. How could you change that signal?
3. This week, identify at least one bold idea — even if you don’t have all the facts — and visibly back it. Capture exactly what you’ll say and do to make it clear that taking smart risks is part of how WE win.
WE 4.0: WE Take Action

1. Recall a time when you identified an improvement opportunity but opted to not take action. What action was needed and what outcome or improvement would you have delivered?
2. What factors drove your decision to not lean in? Was it fear of failure, uncertainty, lack of resources, or something else?
3. In hindsight, was there a cost or impact from your inaction?
4. If you faced a similar situation today, what would you do differently? Is there a mindset shift or approach that would help you lean into the problem rather than avoid it?
5. Now identify one action you can start right now that will encourage you and your team to take action. Even when it’s difficult.
